Frequently asked questions.

  • No, consultants will not fill out applications for students. Noetic College Consulting believes in supporting each student’s college journey ethically, which means guiding and advising students while ensuring the work and voice remain authentically theirs. Students will receive structure, feedback, and strategies that help them create their strongest application, but the writing and submission are steps students take themselves. NCC does not access student applications, meaning students will never be asked for login information.

  • No, Noetic College Consulting follows a code of ethics to ensure the writing you submit to colleges is 100% yours. However, NCC can support students in the writing process, which includes brainstorming best ideas and providing detailed feedback on essay drafts. Students receive help in refining their voice, strengthening narratives, and presenting their authentic selves in the most compelling way possible. All work remains entirely your own.

  • Noetic College Consulting provides general information relating to need-based financial aid and scholarships (both merit-based aid and private scholarships). You may receive support in finding private scholarships and in the application processes, if desired. However, Noetic College Consulting focuses on admissions guidance. Neither Emily nor anyone else at NCC is a financial advisor or need-based financial aid specialist, so we cannot answer questions regarding individual financial situations or need-based aid, including filling out the FAFSA and CSS Profile. We're happy to point you toward resources that can help with these specialized aspects of the financial aid process.

  • Yes! NCC has experience working with student athletes at all levels. Student athletes, regardless of recruitment status, need to be accepted to their desired university based on their application. Student athletes are supported in their application process the same way all juniors and seniors are! NCC understands that athletes may have unique time constraints and opportunities, and can help showcase athletic achievements alongside academic strengths in college applications.

  • Yes, absolutely! Emily’s specialty is working with STEM students, especially those interested in life sciences, but she has successfully supported students with nearly every interest and intended major available. The NCC process adapts to the unique goals of each student, whether they are passionate about engineering, humanities, arts, business, or any other field. Guidance is tailored to highlight a student’s specific strengths and align them with programs that best match their academic and career aspirations.

  • No, the focus and expertise at NCC remains on college admissions guidance. However, we can provide resources and recommend trusted tutoring platforms that complement college consulting services and have proven effective for the students we've worked with.

  • No, Noetic College Consulting does not guarantee college admissions results. It is recommended that you avoid any college counselor or company that does. College admissions decisions involve many factors beyond any applicant's control. What NCC does guarantee is a commitment to helping students create the strongest possible application, identify schools that are good matches for their profiles, and navigate the process with confidence and clarity. Success at NCC is measured by how well we prepare you to present your authentic self to colleges, not by specific admission outcomes - although, let’s be honest, achieving desired outcomes is always nice!

  • There are no hidden costs within Noetic College Consulting. We believe in transparency - whether it's being up front about costs or best fit colleges. Before you commit to working with NCC, you'll get a chance to understand the complete fee structure and ensure your comfort with the investment. The quoted price includes all internal services.

Outside of our work together, we may recommend paid programs and services. This is especially true for students seeking a Personalized Prep Plan. For example, the PPP may recommend working with an SAT tutor, who would charge an individual fee, or a competition with a registration fee. Additionally, each college charges an application fee, so this is something current seniors should be prepared to see.

  • No. Noetic College Consulting is not affiliated with any other company or individual service. Unlike many large consulting firms, we do not receive kickback, compensation, or any additional benefit from any service or program we recommend. Recommendations are based on knowledge of the recommended service, the qualifications and value of the recommended service, and the experience of past students and families.

  • Once you purchase a Personalized Prep Plan, you meet with your counselor for a total of two hours, separated into two, one-hour meetings. This service is designed to provide ALL of the information a student needs to succeed from now until college application season, without the need to return for recurring meetings. If you feel you need additional support after these two meetings, you can purchase additional support hours.

  • This is normal! Many times, a slight change in interest won’t affect your PPP. However, a dramatic change in interest and intended major (from computer science to fine arts, for example) could greatly influence your suggested long-term goals. If this happens, contact your consultant and they will offer advice on next steps. At our discretion, we may recommend purchasing additional support hours at a discounted rate or purchasing an additional PPP at a discounted rate.

  • NCC will recommend a specific meeting frequency for each student based on their position in the college application process, their individual needs for support, and the time at which they join our program. Please schedule a free consultation for a more personalized answer!

  • Yes! In fact, Emily specializes in science fair review and interview/presentation preparation.

NCC offers support for a variety of other competitions in the form of material review. This includes feedback on current materials and ensuring that the materials are meeting the stated competition guidelines.

Note that we maintain the highest ethical standards and carefully follow the guidelines for each competition. We DO NOT review materials or provide support for competitions that prohibit competitions from having materials reviewed or receiving outside support.

  • Yes, of course! You can purchase a-la-carte hours to use at your discretion. We often have families use a-la-carte hours for singular essay review.

During your free consultation we will recommend the service that is most efficient and cost-effective for your family.

  • Personalized Prep Plans have built-in discounts for current clients. If cost is a limiting factor, you may be interested in checking out Noetic’s scholarships for potential pro-bono support or our self-paced courses.
